Mr. Angelo R. Capalupo, 100, a resident of Valley Residential Services in Herkimer, formerly of N. Utica, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. Angelo was born in Utica, on January 6, 1922, the son of Peter and Mary (Christiano) Capalupo. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Angelo proudly serviced in the US Army Air Corp, from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On March 10, 1945, Angelo was united in marriage with Harriet F. Kobosinski at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 70 years, until Harriet’s death in 2015. For 38 years, Angelo was employed with General Electric Company in Utica, retiring in 1984. Angelo was an avid fly fisherman who especially enjoyed fishing West Canada Creek. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and was a skilled wood worker. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. Mr. Capalupo is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Capalupo of Herkimer, NY and Mariangela and David Fontenez of Dover, DE; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Capalupo of Horseheads, NY; five cherished grandchildren, Eric (Joanie), Kristen (David), Marisa, Nicholas (Tricia) and Leighann (Nathan); in-laws, Harry and Betty Cummings, as well as 14 adored great grandchildren, one adored great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Patrick Zegarelli; one sister, Theresa Spartano and three brothers, Philip, Joseph and Ralph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Angelo’s Memorial Mass of Christian burial, on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church, John St., Utica. He and his beloved Harriet will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville at the convenience of the family.
