Obituary of Ann B. Stone

Ann B. Stone, 81, of Deerfield passed away March 8, 2022 Peacefully at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica due to brain cancer.
She was born August 16, 1940 in Syracuse, NY the daughter of the late Clayton and Rita (Cuyler) Bradshaw. Ann graduated Valedictorian from St. Anthony of Padua in Syracuse, class of 1958. Ann met Kenneth Stone in 1979 and after 15 years of dating, they were united in marriage on August 20, 1994 and enjoyed the last 43 years together. Ann was employed by New State Department of Corrections at Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy in the records department, retiring in 2006. Before employment with NYSDOC she worked as a proofreader for local typesetting companies. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife. Ann was an avid reader, bridge player and a self-taught seamstress. She was well known for her cooking, baking and was a wordsmith on daily crossword puzzles. She always impressed Ken how fast she could complete a crossword often without cross outs. Ann was a woman of many talents, made an excellent passenger on the back of Ken’s motorcycle and could drive a car with a manual transmission. She was a dedicated member of the Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning In Retirement (MVLIR), servicing as volunteer and board member. She enjoyed socializing with the many friends she made at MVILR.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband Ken; her sons Steven Carl and his wife Joann, New Hartford; Michael Carl and his wife Kris, Whitesboro; five grandchildren Nicole Carl, Brian Carl and his wife Kimberly, Shelby Plows and her husband Jordan, Jenna Cowburn and her husband Matt, Mackenzie Maclaury and her husband Dominick, four great grandchildren Levi Carl, Jackson and Brantley Plows, Everleigh Cowburn, two step grandchildren Jay and Haley and a ex daughter in law Lori Franssen. She was predeceased by her ex-husband Thomas Carl and her siblings.
In keeping with Ann’s wishes, there will be no formal services or calling hours. Ann’s cremains will be interred at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Ann’s life on April 2, 2022 at 12:00PM (noon) at the Club Monarch, 16 Erie Street, Yorkville, NY.
Mrs. Stone’s family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to the staff at MVHS St. Luke’s campus and The Grand for their care and compassion shown to Ann and her family.
