Obituary of Mary Luella Wuest

     Mrs. Mary Luella Wuest, 84, a resident of the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the nursing home.

     Mary was born in Utica, on December 29, 1937, the daughter of Stanley and Luella (King) Tencza.  She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School.  On May 14, 1955, Mary was united in marriage with William J. Wuest, Jr., at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 50 years, until William’s death in 2005. At one time, Mary was employed with Mohawk Containers and later with Hannaford Supermarket.  Mary enjoyed tending to her flower garden and was a parishioner of St. Leo’s and St. Ann’s Church in Holland Patent.

     Mrs. Wuest is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Steve Zogby of Chittenango; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Mary Wuest of Holland Patents and William III and Colleen Wuest of Holland Patent; six cherished grandchildren, Steven, Jr., Nicole and Todd Skoglund, Tyler, Carter, Patrick and William, IV; six adored great grandchildren, Jonathan, Sophia, Olivia, Samantha, Ryan and Steven, III; five sisters, Jean Wuest of VA, Phyllis Broccoli of Utica, Nancy Manion of New Hartford, Geraldine Mahoney of NC and Ann Kosmider of FL; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Tencza of NY Mills, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother, John Tencza.

      A private memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.  She will be laid to rest with his beloved husband, William, in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.  Those wishing to make a donation in Mary’s memory, please consider the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 507 Kent St., Utica, NY 13501.
