Obituary of Ida M. Giglio

      Mrs. Ida M. Giglio, 86, of N. Utica, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, in the comfort of her sister Siegrid’s home, with her loving family by her side.

     Ida was born in Bayreuth, Germany, on January 31, 1936, the daughter of Ludwig and Elizabeth (Kasel) Heuberger and received her education there.  On August 27, 1962, Ida was united in marriage with John P. Giglio at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 57 years, until John’s death in 2020.  Ida enjoyed gardening, shopping, her Tuesday lunches with the girls, and especially traveling with her beloved husband John. Hosting parties and holidays for her cherished family, especially Christmas Eve, was truly her greatest joy.  She was of the Protestant faith.

     Mrs. Giglio is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Siegrid and George Baranowski of N. Utica and Doris Gould of SC; her adored nieces and nephews, Greg Baranowski and Kim Zenobio of N. Utica, Jeff and Patricia Baranowski of N. Utica, Steven Gould of Utica, Marie and Thomas Maxwell of SC, Shila and Eddie Caheely of GA, Cindy and Lee Parker of GA and Lorraine and Wayne Pittman of OK, as well as many cherished great nieces and nephews and many dear friends.  She was predeceased by her brother, Karl Heuberger; her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and LeRoy Lawson and brother-in-law, David Gould.

     Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.  She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.  Those wishing to make a donation in Ida’s memory, please consider Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
