Obituary of Catherine "Lola" M. (Wehby) Hiffa

      Mrs. Catherine “Lola” M. (Wehby) Hiffa, 88, of New York Mills, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Oneida Healthcare Center, Oneida, NY.

     Catherine was born in Utica, on December 7, 1933, the daughter of Anthony and Morro (George) Wehby.  On September 4, 1954, Catherine was united in marriage with William A. Hiffa at St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica, a devoted union of 33 years until William’s death in 1987.  For 20 years, Catherine was employed with St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital in New Hartford.

     Mrs. Hiffa is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, William Hiffa of NY Mills, David and Debbie Hiffa of Holland Patent, Ronald and Lynnette Hiffa of Remsen and Nick Hiffa of New Hartford; four cherished grandchildren, Trevor and Lindsay Hiffa, Megan and Peter Hiffa, Kimberly and Stephen Porter and Lindsey and Nicholas Spine, as well as seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three sisters, Gloria Wehby, Sadie Wehby and Rosie Joseph and one brother, Abraham Wehby.

     In keeping with Catherine’s wishes, there was no visitation and a private family funeral was held.  She was laid to rest with her beloved husband, William in Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
