Obituary of Teresa Ann Bierman
Mrs. Teresa Ann “Terry” Bierman, 75, of NY Mills, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, with her loving family by her side.
Teresa was born in Oneida, NY on May 22, 1947, the daughter of John Jr. and Eileen (Baird) Douglas and received her education in West Canada Valley High School. After graduation, Terry continued her education at Our Lady of The Rosary Dominican Monastery in Buffalo, NY. On July 9, 1983, Teresa was united in marriage with Larry C. Bierman at St. Paul’s Church in Whitesboro. At one time, Terry was employed with K-Mart in New Hartford, later in the medical records department with St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica Catholic Book Store, and most recently, as a Cantor with St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica. Terry was an avid music enthusiast, an active parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica, as well as a member the Alter Rosary Society and choir at the church. She was the proud recipient of the Immaculate Medallion, awarded to Terry in recognition of her Extraordinary Service to her parish and presented to her by the Most Reverend Robert J. Cunningham in 2013. Among her many accomplishments, her family was her greatest joy.
Mrs. Bierman is survived by her loving husband, Larry; brother, John Douglas, III of Bear, DE; aunt, Sr. Mary Jude, residing at Immaculate Conception Convent in Hamburg, NY; mother-in-law, Laura Bierman of State College, PA; brothers-in-law, Edward A. Maziarz of Schuyler and Lawrence Stepanowicz of West Schuyler; sisters-in-law, Donna Douglas of Lewes, DE, Lori (Bob) Spector of Wilmington, DE and Lisa (Chris) Temple of State College, PA; her cherished nieces and nephews, Greg (Cathy) Maziarz, Andrea Maziarz, Monica (Mike) Sharma, Eric (Sara) Smither, Tammy (Chris) Lemire, Kim (Ben) Gibson, Joni Villanueva, Judy Douglas, Kelsey Temple and Courtney Spector; adored great nieces and nephews, Rachel, Abigail, Autumn, and Madelyn Maziarz, Theresa, Emma, Katherine and Andrew Sharma, Ben Smither and Chase and Connor Gibson; special cousin, Genny (Tom) Benz and many additional cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eileen; brother, Gerald Douglas; sisters, Cynthia Stepanowicz and Christina Maziarz; father-in-law, Linn Bierman; sister-in-law, Ann Douglas and great nephew, Samuel “Sammy” Smither, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Mrs. Bierman’s funeral will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., N. Utica, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery in Newport, NY. Visitation for family and friends is Friday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
