Obituary of Jeffrey A. Shobe
Jeffrey A. Shobe, 60, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica after being stricken at home.
He was born on July 16, 1962, on Clark Air Force Base on Luzon Island in the Philippines, son of the late Rembert Allen and Carol M. (Paul) Shobe. Jeff was raised in Utica and was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Jeff was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections at Marcy Correctional Facility, Marcy. He was a faithful employee until his retirement in 2014 after 25 years of service.
In his spare time, Jeffrey was an avid outdoorsman, his favorite most of all was fishing. He was also a talented master wood worker. If you gave him two pieces of wood, he could make anything. This was a trait that his grandfather and father had passed to Jeff and to his brother Ken. He was also a diehard Washington (Redskins) fan.
He is survived by his sister Cynthia Shobe, Clark Mills, NY., brother Kenneth Shobe and his wife Shari, Douglasville, GA., nephew Stephen Ruffing and his wife Sara and their children Madison and Jaxon, niece Kelsi Shobe, nephew Noah Shobe, all of Douglasville, GA and many good friends he had at the Whitesboro VA.
Calling hours for family and friends will take place on Monday, October 31, 2022, from 4-6 PM at Heintz Funeral Services, Inc., 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY. 13502. A Memorial service will take place at 6 PM following calling hours. As per Jeffrey's wishes, he asked that he be laid to rest at a favorite fishing location here in Central NY.
