Norma J. Boccardo, 89, of Whitesboro, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Katherine Luther Home. Norma was born in Utica on October 20, 1926, a daughter of George and Martha (Zick) Thompson. She was a 1944 graduate of Utica Free Academy. On November 11, 1950, in St. Joseph's Church, Utica, Norma as united in marriage to Victor J. Boccardo, a blessed union of 53 years until his passing on December 24, 2003. Norma started her working career with Utica Mutual Insurance Company and was later employed at the Savings Bank of Utica. Norma was extremely proud of being considered the adopted grandmother of COVAC. She was of the Lutheran faith. Norma is survived by her three children, James Boccardo, Whitesboro, Michael and Holly Boccardo, New York Mills, and Judith Verminski, Floyd, a son-in-law, Daniel Verminski, Clark Mills, seven, grandchildren, Susan Verminski, Daniel Verminski II, Joseph Boccardo, Alyssa Boccardo, James D. Boccardo, Nicole Boccardo and Benjamin Boccardo, a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Lester Henderson, Oriskany, a brother, George Thompson, Whitesboro and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Boccardo's funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-8. Those so wishing may make donations to the Katherine Luther Home in Norma's memory.
