Obituary of Jean T. (Strassberger) McBride

    Mrs. Jean T. (Strassberger) McBride, 91, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Abraham House in Rome, with her loving family by her side.

     Jean was born in Utica, on November 28, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Toner) Strassberger. She was raised in Utica and was a 1949 graduate of Utica Free Academy.  On September 7, 1957, Jean was united in marriage with Francis W. McBride, Jr., a union of 33 years until Francis’ death in 1991.  At one time, Jean was employed with Utica Floral and for many years, with Bank of America (Oneida National Bank) until her retirement.  She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, past president and Oneida County Coordinator of AARP and past member of the Office for The Aging Advisory Board.  Jean was also a devout parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, its bereavement ministry and church office volunteer. 

     Mrs. McBride is survived by her devoted son, Michael McBride of Utica; sister, Ann Notarianni of Utica; brother and sister-in-law, James and Peg Strassberger of Marcy and sister-in-law, Karen McBride of Utica, as well as one niece and several nephews.  Besides her husband, Francis, Jean was predeceased by her son, Francis C. “Frank” McBride in 2013, brother Carl Strassberger in 1993, and two brothers-in-law, Peter McBride in 2015 and James Notarianni in 2022.

     Mrs. McBride’s memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, Utica. The family will receive visitors in church at the conclusion of the memorial Mass.
