Obituary of Pauline N. Gromling

    Mrs. Pauline N. Gromling, affectionately known as “Nanny” and “Queen Lizzi”, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford with her loving family by her side.

     Pauline was born in Reading, PA, on December 16, 1945, the daughter of Chester and Pauline N. (Bohn) Hoover.  She was raised and educated in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School.  For 25 years, Pauline was employed with Hannaford Supermarket, retiring in 2016.  She enjoyed going to the casino and her greatest joy were her cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild, who were the light of her life.

     Mrs. Gromling is survived by her four children, Randy Ernst, Tracey Guido, Shelly Gromling and Marcey Gromling, all of Utica; cherished grandchildren, Shannon Byrd and Jeremy Bartle, Samantha Maser and her husband, Brian, Dominick Leon, Shayla Byrd, Kali Ernst, Ronnie Byrd, DeVan Leon and Alexis Gromling-Peppers; adored great grandchildren, Jenna Bartle, Anthony Morinitti, Logan Bartle, Caylianna Leon and Landon Byrd; an adored great great grandchild, Marcellus Colcord;  three sisters and one brother-in-law, Darlene Woerle, Shirley Darrah, and Sylvia and John Beasley all of PA; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Glen and MaryLou Hoover and Larry Hoover all of PA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two sisters, Fern Trout and Doris Brown and one brother, Ronald Hoover. 

     In keeping with Pauline’s wishes, there is no visitation, and a private family service will be held.

     Arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
