Obituary of Nancy Jean LePorte
Mrs. Nancy Jean LePorte, 84, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Masonic Care Community, Utica. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Nancy was born in Utica, on January 21, 1938, the daughter of the late George and Martha (Scheiderich) Snyder. Nancy was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. She went on to receive her bachelor’s in education at SUNY Potsdam, then received her master’s in counseling. She was an elementary teacher at Whitesboro and Rome schools. Then became a high school counselor at St.Francis de Sales and at JFK in the Utica school district. Nancy was united in marriage to the late Anthony LePorte on August 23, 1958. They shared 32 years of happiness, adventures, and love before Anthony’s passing on January 6, 1990. Nancy was a member of St. Mark’s Church, Utica. She loved knitting, reading, shopping, traveling, and playing cards with her friends. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by her five children; Mary Lourdes (John) Durdan, Whitesboro, Suzanne LePorte, Utica, Jacquelyn (Ronald) Starsiak, Deerfield, Anthony LePorte, Vernon, Michelle (Edward) Simpson, Deerfield. She leaves behind her sister Marie Slaga, Goshen, IN. and brother George (Anne) Snyder, New Hartford. Ten grandchildren; Tasha Peterson, Sheena (Mark) Piersma, Kristin Klotz (boyfriend, Marcus Bole), Jessica Klotz, Victoria Simpson, Ronald Starsiak, Isabella Starsiak (boyfriend, Giuseppe Mauro), Edward Simpson, Emma Simpson, and Brigette Durdan. Eight great grandchildren Michael, Jack, Eli, and Eva Peterson; Briana D’Alba, Mia Shwamle; Anthony Klotz, Giovanni Gran-Klotz and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff in the Troy wing at the Masonic Care Community especially, Dr. O, Betsy, Wendy, Herminia, Kate, and Sherry for the compassion and care given to Nancy and her family during this difficult time.
Nancy’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 11 AM from St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Road, Utica, NY., 13502. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Anthony in Calvary Cemetery, Utica.
