Obituary of Yvonne M. Hymes

Yvonne M. Hymes, 65, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 17, 2022.

     Yvonne was born in Washington D.C. on February 10, 1957, the daughter of the late Plato Hymes, Jr. and Bertha Johnson.  She was raised in Utica and was graduate of UFA.  Yvonne will be always remembered as a loving and caring person.  She loved going to watch her grandchildren play all their sports they were involved in.  She also enjoyed playing lotto, doing scratch offs, going to the casino and watching all sports especially basketball.

     Yvonne is survived by her sons Anfernee Reed (Keyanna), Utica, Justin Hymes, Reginald Sanders, Robert Evans, Jr. (Pooja), daughters Tanisha Blackshear (Walt Jr.), Shamika Sanders, Kendra Frazier, brother Joseph Hymes “Micky”, Savannah, GA., Anthony Nevith “Touchie”, sister Tammy Nevith, grandchildren Debryon Hymes, Ceazia Hymes, Jaden Hymes, Zee Hymes, Mia Reed, Kaylina Reed, Jah Hymes, Kimora Lucas, Leroy Lucas, Jr., Serenity Blackshear, Jordynn Blackshear, god sister Shavon Gary, god daughter Tashana Linen, special friend Lisa Jones, along with several nieces, nephews and several friends too numerous to name.  She was predeceased by brothers Samuel and John Edwards Hymes and Shantay Morgan.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 10AM -12(noon) at St. Matthew’s Temple COGIC, 110 Washington Street, Utica, followed by a service at 12(noon) at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor J.L. Griffin officiating.  She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica.
