Obituary of Charlene M. Gapp
Mrs. Charlene M. Gapp, 36, of N. Utica, formerly of Long Island, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at MVHS, St. Luke’s Campus in New Hartford after a courageous 13-year battle with leukemia. Her loving wife Kayleigh was by her side at the time of her passing.
Charlene was born in Huntington, Long Island, NY, on September 17, 1986, the daughter of Patricia Alessio. She was raised and educated on Long Island and earned her bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. On May 16, 2015, Charlene was united in marriage with Kayleigh M. Gapp. Charlene was employed as a contract administrator with Oneida County Department of Public Works. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch and baking, especially for holidays.
Charlene is survived by her beloved wife, Kayleigh; mother, Patricia Alessio of Long Island; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Alessio and Newmann Pieters of Long Island; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Kait Alessio of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Christina Gapp and James Spero of Long Island; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dayna Spero and Ole Zetterstroem of Long Island, and seven adored nieces and nephews, London, Polaris, Archer, Finn, Lori, Sophia and Emilia.
In keeping with Charlene’s wishes, there is no visitation or service.
In lieu of flowers, Charlene encourages people to please donate blood and platelets or kindly make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
