Obituary of Marguerite H. Redmond

Marguerite H. Redmond, of Yorkville, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, after living an amazing life of 110 years.

            Marguerite (Peg) was born on December 1, 1912, to John and Margaret (Reilly) Priestly. While working at Winship Luggage Company, Peg met the love of her life, John H. Redmond. They were married in 1936 and had two daughters, Margaret (Corky) Redmond Hardy and Patricia Redmond.

            Peg lived a full and active life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a passion for flower gardening, was an avid reader, loved to sew, and spend time with her family. Her longevity is a tribute to her strong will and determination to be this amazing person who was always there when needed. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. 

            Peg is survived by her children, Corky Redmond Hardy (David), Patricia Redmond; three grandchildren, David Hardy (Barbara), Kelly Hardy Sanderson (Michael), John Hardy (Alexis); and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Hardy, Claire Hardy Thorp (Joshua), Liam Sanderson, Colin Sanderson. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, including Mary Gaye Grizwin and great-great nieces and nephews, including Carla Bridgman. Peg was preceded in death by her loving husband, infant son John Priestly Redmond and her sisters Irene McPherson, Muade Anderson, Sadie Hinkston, Mable Biggs.

            The family would like to thank Mary Brady, Jared Thorpe, and the staff of the Clark West Wing at St. Luke’s Nursing Home. Also, special thanks to the dietary staff Linda, Kris, Karen, and Mary.

            In keeping with Peg’s wishes there will be no public calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Peg’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 11AM at Mary, Mother of Our Savior, Parish, Our Lady of The Rosary Campus, 1736 Burrstone Road, New Hartford.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband John H. Redmond in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Woods Road, Whitesboro.

     In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY., 13502 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN., 38105-9959 in memory of Marguerite’s name.
