Obituary of Sheree L. Slattery

    Mrs. Sheree L. Slattery, 65, of Yorkville, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at her home with her loving family be her side.

     Sheree was born in Utica, on September 30, 1957, the daughter of Herbert C. and Ann Elizabeth (Jones) Joyce.  She was raised and educated in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned her associates degree from Mohawk Valley Community College.  On November 29, 1997, Sheree was united in marriage with James J. Slattery, a loving and devoted union of 25 years.  For many years, Sheree was employed as a home health aide with US Care System, Inc., in Utica, a job she truly loved.  Sheree was a parishioner of Mother, Mary of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus in Utica, a gifted artist and enjoyed doing crafts and puzzles.  She will most be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. 

     Mrs. Slattery is survived by her beloved husband, James; her mother, Ann E. Joyce of Utica; two sons, James P. Mason and his fiancée Marissa Bailey of Oriskany and Travis A. Slattery of Yorkville; two step-sons and one step-daughter, Shawn M. Slattery of Whitesboro, Sherry Slattery and her companion Jay of Utica and James Slattery of Utica, as well as eight cherished grandchildren, six adored great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her father, Herbert, her daughter, Brandy Slattery and infant sister, Bonnie Joyce.

     Mrs. Slattery’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.  She will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.  Visitation for family and friends is Monday, January 23^rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
