Obituary of JP Jones

    Mr. John Patrick Jones, known by all as JP, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2023, as a result of a snowmobile accident.

     JP was born in Utica, on July 25, 1970, the son of John M. and Deborah Jean (Hinckley) Jones.  He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.  At one time, JP was married to Jen (Cehonski) Jones.  JP was the owner and operator of Unique Home Improvements.  He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, jet skiing, the outdoors, twizzlers, and sports, especially the Chicago Bears, NY Mets and NY Rangers, and he looked forward to spending time with Jenna and Jack in MMA.  In his younger years, JP was involved in youth boxing and was proud of his unbeaten record of 11-0. JP was a firecracker who lived life to the fullest. He treated everyone like his family, calling his closest friends, his brothers, (You know who you are).  He had a big heart and a big mouth to match. JP had the ability to make everyone laugh and he left a permanent impression on everyone he met.  JP, you will truly be missed.

     JP is survived by his cherished children, Brie Jones and her partner Jordon Brown of Whitesboro, Jenna Jones of Herkimer and Jack Jones of Sauquoit; his beloved life partner, Emily Moran of Sauquoit; two adored granddaughters, Magnolia Mae and Willow Rae; two sisters, Shannon Jones of Ilion and Colleen Jones and her girlfriend, Jessica Green of Oneida; his brother, whom he raised like a son, Kevin Jones and his wife Danielle of Utica; uncle, Dave Tinkham of Utica; aunt and uncle, Cathy and Darrell Stovall of Schuyler; five nephews, Markie, who JP shared a special bond with, Lance, Dominick, Kevy and Alex and four nieces, Chelsey, Kaitlyn, Bella and Arianna. He is also survived by Mikey Reali, who was like a son to JP and Emily’s children, Isabella, Mia and Max, as well and many cousins and dear friends to numerous to mention.  He was predeceased by his parents, John and Deborah Jean and niece, Megan.

     Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a celebration of life starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Hub Eatery, 222 Bleecker St., Utica.
