Mrs. Theresa Lynn (Rowlands) Deraway, 59, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side.

     Theresa was born in Mobile, Alabama, on July 22, 1963, the daughter of Robert and Carolyn (Tibbet) Rowlands.  She was raised locally, attended Whitesboro Central Schools and MVCC.  On October 2, 2004, Theresa was united in marriage with her love of 32 years, Frederick (Fritz) Deraway.  For many years, she was employed as a bar tender at Happy Days, Augies and Wheelers.  Theresa enjoyed camping, she loved her cats, and her greatest joy was spending time with her cherished family and friends.

     Theresa is survived by her beloved husband, Fritz; two children, Elliott Lindsay and his wife Jessica of Herkimer and Tia Moreau and her fiancée Carl Buttenschon of Utica; Her mother, Carolyn Rowlands of CA; three adored grandchildren, Eli Lindsay, Harley Buttenschon and Logan Buttenschon; one sister, Sherri Ayers of CA; three brothers, Scott Rowlands and his wife Colleen of Marcy, Steven Rowlands of AZ and Robert Rowlands of NV; father-in-law, Carmen Deraway of Floyd and mother-in-law, Elaine Kotary of Vernon, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her father, Robert Rowlands.

     Visitation for family and friends is Friday, February 3, 2023, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.  She will be laid to rest in the spring, in Townsend Cemetery in Stittville, NY.
