Obituary of Wladymyr (Walter) Iwanyszyn

     Mr. Wladymyr (Walter) Iwanyszyn, 71, of Utica, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

     Wladymyr was born ion Munich, Germany on October 6, 1951, the son of Gregor and Hildagard (Fronia) Iwanyszyn. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Utica College.  On May 27, 1972, Wladymyr was united in marriage with Patricia Pullman at St. Volodymyr Catholic Church in Utica. At oner time, Wladymyr was employed with Utica Boilers where he also served as union President.  More Recently, he was a self-employed general contractor in the Utica area. Wladymyr was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica and found great joy and comfort attended Mass. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus council 189 in Utica.   

     Mr. Iwanyszyn is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; two daughters, Regina (James) Aiello and Hillary (Joe Potaczala) Iwanyszyn; four sons, Gregory Iwanyszyn, Michael (Kiersten Parry) Iwanyszyn, Patrick Iwanyszyn and Jeremy Iwanyszyn; four cherished grandchildren, Tyler D’Amico, Nolan Aiello, Lily Aiello and Cirilla Potaczala as well as many special nieces and nephews. Although he was an only child, he gained many brothers and sisters through marriage who he loved dearly-Susan Pullman Zumpano, John (Wilma) Zumpano, Stephen (Doris) Pullman, Regina Sager, Janice (Larry) Becker, Christine Pullman, Daniel Pullman, Robert Pullman, Tom (Donna) Pullman. 

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Wladymyr’s memorial Mass of Christian burial on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica. He will be laid to rest in the spring in St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Whitesboro.
