Obituary of Alan J Davis

Mr. Alan J. Davis, 76, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Utica.

     Alan was born in Utica on September 17, 1946, the son of the late Ira and Doris (Donaldson) Davis.  He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, then attended MVCC.  On June 22, 1974, Alan was united in marriage with Janet LaClaire, a loving and devoted union of 48 years.  For 37 years Alan was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) as an Engineering Technician.  Alan had a great love for traveling the country and visiting our National Parks, especially in Hawaii and Alaska.  He also enjoyed playing the machines at the casino and playing golf in his spare time. But his passion was his family with whom he was most generous. He spent countless hours on home improvement projects for the benefit of his family.

     Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Janet, two daughters, Laurie Burns and her husband David, Castleton, NY, Colleen Davis, East Syracuse, NY, brother Michael Davis and his wife Karen, New Hartford, NY, two brothers-in-law, Michael LaClaire and James (Debra) LaClaire, grandchildren Kate and Bridget Burns, Alexa and Landon Davis, several nieces and nephews, and many loved pets over the years.

     A memorial service, to celebrate Alan’s life will be private and be held at the convenience of the family.  Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica at a later time in the spring.

     In lieu of flowers, a donation in Alan’s name can be made to Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY., 13502 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL., 60601.
