Obituary of Patricia Ann Markus

     Mrs. Patricia Ann Markus, 79, of Marcy, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

     Patricia was born in Bridgeport, CT, on May 8, 1943, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Malitsky) Rubasky.  She was raised and educated in CT.  On June 15, 1963, Patricia was united in marriage with Michael Peter Markus, a loving and devoted union of 32 years until Michael’s death in 1995. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1992.

    Patricia was a multi-talented artist, at various times pursuing pottery, photography, print making, painting, and embroidery.  She was a docent at Fountain Elms.  Patricia enjoyed quilting, traveling, and singing with the Silvertones at the Parkway Senior Center.

     Mrs. Markus is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Markus and Brad Amidon of Arlington, MA and Rebecca Markus and Patrick Strodel of Skaneateles, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Roger Gregoire of Hebron, CT and one brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Doris Rubasky of Newington, CT, as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. 

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Patricia’s celebration of life, on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. The family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service. 

     Donations can be made to the Hamilton College Arboretum Association (where she enjoyed peonies at the Root Glen), 198 College Hill Rd., Clinton, NY 13323, 50 Forward Mohawk Valley (Parkway Senior Center) 220 Memorial Parkway, Utica, NY 13501, the Stevens Swan Humane Society (to also honor her many beloved cats), 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502 or the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute (where she took classes), 310 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502.
