James Joseph Grimes, Jr., 62, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at his home.

     James was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL., on June 22, 1960, the son of the late Joe Lewis and Bettye Marie (Johnson) Grimes.  He was raised in Utica and was graduate Utica Free Academy.  James worked with automotive parts most of his adult life.  He was employed by several auto parts centers in the area, lastly he was employed by Bob’s Auto Parts, Utica.

     Jimmy is survived by his sons Joe Robert Grimes, NH., Jimmy Joe Grimes, brothers Johnnie Grimes and his wife Hazel, Utica, Oscar Grimes and his wife Kelly, Raymond Harris, sisters Cindy Lacy, Rome, Julia Marie Johnson, Love Joy, GA., his beloved girl friend with which he shared a home Joan True, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother Henry Grimes and a sister Betty Jackson. 

     Visitation for family and friends is Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4-6 PM followed by a funeral service at 6 PM the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 1517 Whitesboro, Street, Utica, NY., 13502.
