Obituary of Mae E. White

    Mae E. White, 93, a lifelong resident of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side.

     Mae was born in Utica, on March 20, 1929, the daughter of Leroy and Gladys (Coyne) White.  She was raised in Utica and attended Utica schools.  At one time, Mae was employed with Utica Knitting Mill, and for 39 years, with Mele Manufacturing Company in Utica, retiring in 1994.  Mae enjoyed crocheting, sewing, word search puzzles, long car rides and loved a good bowl of ice cream.  She was an animal lover, especially her adored cats.  Mae was of the Episcopal faith.

     Miss White is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Dominga White of N. Utica; her devoted niece, Karen Young and her husband Richard, of Utica, who loving cared for Mae over the past nine years, as well as many additional nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Rusaw, Marjorie Miner and Barbara Brown and two brothers, Edward White and LeRoy (Buster) White.

    A private service, under the direction of Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Those wishing to make a donation in Mae’s memory, please consider Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

     Miss White’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Scott Brehaut, for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Mae over the years. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
