Obituary of Paul D. Gray

    Mr. Paul D. Gray, 81, of Marcy, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

     Paul was born in Utica, on September 9, 1941, the son of Edward W. and Helen (King) Gray.  He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy.  On June 29, 1963, Paul was united in marriage with Donna M. Hughes at St. Mary’s Church in Utica. At one time, Paul was employed as a mechanic with Parkway Mobil in Utica and for many years, as facilities director with Eden Park Nursing Home in Utica, retiring in 2009. Paul was an avid golfer and a parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica. He also enjoyed spending time at fishing camp with his son David, long car rides visiting family and friends and building and working on computers.  In his younger years, he was actively involved with handball as well as bowling.  Paul’s greatest joy was spending time with his cherished family.

     Mr. Gray is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia Ellis and her companion Eric Piekielniak of Yorkville and Michelle and John Lynch of Cape Coral, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Katherine Gray of Marcy and Craig and Dureen Gray of Deerfield; 11 cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Danielle Gray, Kristina Gray and Garrett Barretta, Ronnie Ellis, Nick Agosto, Adam Agosto, Kyle Piekielniak, Jillian Gray, Joshua and Mia Risler, Megan and Michael Vennero, JayPaul Michael Gray and Noah Sharpe; 8 adored great grandchildren, Ronnie, Gracie, Emma, Salvatore, Giella, Joey, Ava and Harper; brother, Robert Gray of CA and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Johann and Paul Mason of Utica, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, Paul M. Gray in 2013, brother, Edward Gray and brother-in-law, William Hughes.

     A private service, to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at the convenience of his family.      Mr. Gray’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff on the 5th floor at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare and the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to Paul.  A special thank you to the members of the Stittville Fire Department for the help and support you prided to Paul and his family.
