Obituary of Thomas Henry O'Donnell

    Mr. Thomas Henry O’Donnell, 75, passed away peacefully at home, on May 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

     Thomas was born in Utica, on November 26, 1947, the son of Thomas O’Donnell and Helen (Gillespie) Cook. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy.  Thomas proudly served in the US Navy, retiring after 22 years of honorable service to his country.  At one time, he was married to Susan Chase.  Thomas loved telling his grandchildren about his travels to different countries and his many experiences associated with them.  He also loved being part of the pit crew at Esta Speedway along side his best friends. Thomas leaves behind an army of people who loved him endlessly and whom he loved unconditionally.

     Mr. O’Donnell is survived by his son, Steve O’Donnell and Sheryl Delaney; three cherished grandchildren, Kristy O’Donnell and Raymond Ingraham, Keri Cooper and Stephen Henry O’Donnell; three adored great grandchildren, Robert, Alaina and Adeline; daughter-in-law, Billiejo Bardo; two sisters, Ida Marie Cook and Ruth Hazzard and her family; dear friend, Susan Rios Colon and his two best friends, Fausto Rios Colon and Angel Rios.  He was predeceased by his mother, Helen, father Thomas and two sons, Michael O’Donnell and Andrew O’Donnell.

     Visitation for family and friends is Monday, May 15, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a prayer service and military honors at 7:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.  He will be laid to rest with his son Andrew in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
