Obituary of Taylor A. Segur
Utica- Mr. Taylor A. Segur, age 37, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Thursday, June 1, 2023. At the time of his passing, he was in his home next to his adored wife, Maureen.
Taylor was born in Rome, NY on July 22, 1985, and was the son of Carolyn
(Lichko) Wheeler and the late Mark E. Segur. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy/Class of 2002. He furthered his education at Clarkson University where he received his Master’s degree in Engineering Management. Taylor was very determined to succeed in life. He began his working career as a chef at Ancora where he was a skilled cook. He then took a job at Par Technology and due to his admirable work ethic, he quickly moved up the ranks and was promoted to Manager of Maintainability Engineering, which was such an integral part of his life. He was a hard worker and considered his coworkers his second family. But the highlight of his life was when he met the former Maureen Kain, and he felt love like never before. They were joined in marriage on July 27, 2019. Although their years together were cut short, they were filled with deep respect, loyalty, and an unbreakable bond. They were inseparable.
He cherished being a husband, and a father. Family ties were so important to him. Taylor’s favorite pastime was spending time with his son Jackson, and they made many memories together. He loved to share his passion of music with him, especially his excitement when he wrote a new song that he couldn’t wait for him to hear. He was a gifted and talented guitarist, singer, songwriter, and he recently began mixing his own music. Taylor enjoyed going on vacation with his family, and not only did he love to sing around the campfire, but they all enjoyed hearing his talent as well. Taylor and Maureen loved going to Jason Mraz concerts together.
He was also very tech savvy; if Jack needed help with anything regarding his computer or technology, he was there. He was the “neighborhood Dad” and Jackson’s friends will feel this great loss along with his family. He shared Maureen’s love for animals; his fur-babies were so important to him and such a huge part of his heart.
He will be sadly missed by his mom, Carolyn; his beloved wife, Maureen; and his adored son, Jackson Rakes. He will also be remembered by his sister, Mandy Segur; his brother, Ian Depasquale; his aunt and uncle Mary Ann and Dan Libby; his nephew, Jason Clary; his mother-in-law, Kathy A. Kain; his in-laws, Shawn and Diane Kain, Barry and Kimberly Kain, and Brendan and Lindsey Kain; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, Nichole Dousharm and her husband Bob, and Eric Libby; and lifelong friend, Jim Polizzi. He was preceded by his father-in-law, Brian E. Kain; and his step-mother, Kathryn Hughes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9th from 4-6PM at Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY 13502. His Memorial Service will follow on Friday at 6PM at the funeral home.
