Obituary of Carrie Lindsey

     Mrs. Carrie Lindsey, 93, a resident of St. Ann’s Home at St. Ann’s Community in Rochester, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

     Carrie was born in Utica, on March 29, 1930, the daughter of James and Antoinette (Marcantonio) Coppola and stepmother Carmella Buanno.  She was raised and educated in Utica, was a 1948 graduate of Proctor High School and in 1951, earned her RN degree from of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. On September 25, 1954, Carrie was united in marriage with James S. Lindsey at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 61 years until James’ death in 2016.  At one time, Carrie was employed as a registered nurse in the maternity department and later in the operating room with St. Elizabeth Hospital.  After her children were grown, Carrie went back to work with St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital retiring in 1989 as operating room supervisor.  Carrie dedicated her time as a volunteer at the N. Utica little league concession stand and was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.

     Mrs. Lindsey is survived by her four children, Mary Lindsey, James Lindsey Jr., Patrick Lindsey, Carole Cobb and her son-in-law, Vaughn Cobb; two sisters, Josephine Spriggs and Lizetta Lukas; as well as six cherished grandchildren, three adored great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Coppola and sister Kathryn Kozick.

     Mrs. Lindsey’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and family who helped Carrie throughout her life, especially the outstanding staff on the 4th floor at St Ann’s Home. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten.
