Obituary of Alfred L. LaSalle
Mr. Alfred L. LaSalle, 87, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Hospice Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford, with his loving family by his side.
Alfred was born in Utica, on April 17, 1936, the son of Louis and Arabell (Hardell) LaSalle and received his education in local schools. After high school, Al was employed with Utica Drop Forge. On March 23, 1957, Alfred was united in marriage with Joan Gohringer, a loving and devoted union of 54 years until Joan’s death in 2021. In 1961, he was appointed to the Utica Fire Department, retiring in 1996 after 35 years of dedicated service to the City of Utica. Al also worked for a time, with Dino’s Sausage as a truck driver. He was a member and Past Master of the Faxton Masonic Lodge No. 697 F.&A.M. in Utica, a member of the Utica Firefighters Retirees and First United Methodist Church in New Hartford. Al’s favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch visiting with neighbors and attending Utica Common Council meetings.
Mr. LaSalle is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sherri LaSalle of Utica, Scott and Lisa LaSalle of Chadwick’s and Timothy and Michele LaSalle of MA; his cherished grandchildren who he was so proud of; Brooke, Gary, Allison, Emily, Olivia, Sarah and Caroline as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Salvatore Torchia; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Gloria LaSalle and brother-in-law, Richard Gohringer
Mr. LaSalle’s funeral will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Joan in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Kirkland. Calling hours for family and friends is Wednesday, June 14th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
