Obituary of Athena M Sill

Mrs. Athena M. Sill, 52, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2023, at MVHS-St. Luke’s campus.

     Athena was born in Utica on October 22, 1970, the daughter of the late Charlotte Welch and her adoptive mother Teresa Galavotti.  Athena was raised and educated in Utica.  At one time Athena owned and operated Bits and Pieces in Utica.  Athena was a people person and loved to help anyone in need, no matter who they were.  She absolutely loved dogs especially the Maltese breed. Athena lived her life vivaciously and wore her heart on her sleeve. She took extreme pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren no matter what the occasion or circumstance. 

     Athena is survived by her children daughter Cherise Nelson, son Joshua Sill, both of Utica, grandchildren Samuel, Lauren, Isabella, Victoria, Benjamin, sister Cyrena Welch, Chadwicks, NY, adoptive brother Bob Ruger, Utica, close and dear friends Bethany Schmidt and Christine Descantis.  She is predeceased by her mother Charlotte Welch and her adoptive mother Teresa Galavotti.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Athena’s funeral service on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 12PM(Noon) from Heintz Funeral Service, Inc. 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY.  Visitation will take place prior to her funeral service from 10AM-12PM(Noon).  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
