Obituary of Susan E Hughes

Ms. Susan E. Hughes, 88, of Utica passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica.

     Susan was born in Utica, on August 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Leroy and Bertha (Clermont) Hughes.  She was raised, educated and spent her entire life in Utica.  Susan at one time was employed in the sales department at the former Ames Department Store in New Hartford.  She enjoyed puzzles, bingo and organizing family photographs.  Her favorite part of the day was sitting down and watching her favorite television show Walker Texas Ranger.  Susan was a kind, caring and loving person, she will be greatly missed by all who know her.

     Susan is survived by her beloved daughter Kelly Fulghum and her husband Charles, Rome, NY, her adored granddaughter Katie Elliott and her husband Michael also of Rome, NY, her last surviving brother with whom she took care of David Hughes, Utica.  She is predeceased by her siblings Edward, Thomas, Russell, Walter, Donald, Paul Hughes, Emma Colluccio and Dana Hughes.

     In keeping with Susan’s wishes there will be a graveside for relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 11AM from Carr Cemetery, Town of Marcy, NY. 

     Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Services, Inc. 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY.
