Obituary of Robert L Hornsby

Mr. Robert L. Hornsby, 75, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica with his loving family by his side.

     Robert was born on February 21, 1948, in Birmingham Alabama, the son of the late Jasper Lowell and Betty Jean (Roberson) Hornsby.  He was raised and educated in several parts of the county, due to his father’s location of employment.  He graduated from Satellite Beach High School in Florida.  Robert proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  On October 17, 1970, Robert was united in marriage with Susanne E. Murphy, a loving and devoted union of nearly 53 years.  Robert was employed by the former Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) and retired as a foreman.  Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time outdoors.  He also was a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan “Roll Tide”.  Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #229 in North Utica.

     Mr. Hornsby is survived by his devoted wife Susanne, two loving daughters Kathleen Galosich and Husband Thomas, Munster, IN, Cheryl Siniscarco, Utica, cherished grandchildren Jacob, Ryleigh, Noah, Payton Galosich, Nicolina, Alyssa, Rebekah Siniscarco, great grandson Dominic, brother Greg Hornsby and wife Janey, AL.  Robert was predeceased by his parents and a brother Kenneth Hornsby.

   Visitation for relatives and friends is Friday, August 18, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.
