Obituary of Mary Jane Rothdiener
Mrs. Mary Jane (Bonnie) Rothdiener, 86, a resident of the Loretto health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse, formerly of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the nursing home with her loving family by her side.
Mary was born in Utica, on September 28, 1936, the daughter of William and Leonore (McCann) Hogan. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On October 10, 1959, Bonnie was united in marriage with Robert J. Rothdiener at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 60 years, until Robert’s death in 2020. For 22 years, until her retirement, Bonnie was employed with the Social Security Administration. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica and Our Lady of The Rosary Church in New Hartford. Bonnie enjoyed tending to her flower garden, bird watching, especially hummingbirds and chick-a-dee’s and she was a gifted seamstress. She especially loved the 32 summers she spent with her beloved family on the St. Lawrence River.
Mrs. Rothdiener is survived by her three children, Steven (Cathy) Rothdiener, NH Christine (Frank) Campese, FL and Susan Rothdiener-Dorn, Syracuse; eight cherished grandchildren, Craig (Chelsea) Urbanke, Nick (Nicole) Urbanke, Kaitlyn Campese, Christian (Brittany) Dorn, Kalie Dorn, Emma Dorn, Kara Dorn and Ryan Rothdiener; four adored great grandchildren, Caden Urbanke, Colton Urbanke, Mason Urbanke and Julian Urbanke; one sister, Diane Tibbits and one brother-in-law, Donald Rothdiener, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three infant daughters; one brother, Richard Hogan and one brother-in-law, Richard Tibbits.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Bonnie’s Memorial Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of The Rosary Campus, 1736 Burrstone Rd., New Hartford. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Robert in Oriskany Cemetery. In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, there are no calling hours.
