Obituary of Mary Ann Randall
Mrs. Mary Ann Randall, 73, of Taberg, NY, passed away on August 8, 2023, at MVHS-St. Luke’s campus in New Hartford with her loving family at her side.
Mary was born December 14, 1949, in Utica, the daughter of the late Ralph and Henrietta (Bailey) Smithling. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. After high school she attended Utica School of Commerce. For many years Mary was employed by the Visiting Nurse Association of Utica and Oneida County as a certified nurse’s assistant.
Mary enjoyed the simple things in life like a hot cup of coffee, finding a bargain, and snuggling with her cats. She spent as much of her time as she could doing the things she loved: growing flowers, crocheting, and playing bingo. Family and friends will cherish the memories of her infamous sugar cookies at Christmas time and many baby blankets that welcomed new members into the family. She valued the time spent with family and was always dreaming of her next adventure.
In recent years she wasn't able to do as many of the things she loved. She was a confident soul who wasn't afraid to speak her truth. I think that if she were to leave us with any parting words, they would be: eat the cookie, take the trip, make the memories, and spend your time doing things that make you happy.
Mrs. Randall is survived by her three daughters Stacey Patterson and her husband Hank, Utica, Sandie Latendress, Taberg, Linda Poole and her husband Shawn, Chesapeake, VA, son Robert White and his wife Allison, Cortland, two sisters Marilyn Corridori and her husband Gene, Londonderry, NH, Karen Zayas, Clayville, two brothers Kenneth Smithling and his wife Ann, Denton, NC, Warren Smithling, Utica, grandchildren Brian White, Corey Latendress, Cadence and Brandon Poole, Ethan and Jayla White, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant sister Linda Smithling and brothers Allen, James, John, Harold and Ralph, Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mary’s memorial service on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 6PM from Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica, NY. Mary’s calling hours will be prior to her funeral service 4PM-6PM.
