Obituary of Rose H. Lazarek Bergin

     Mrs. Rose H. Lazarek Bergin, 98, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, formerly of Fairwood Dr., Utica, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the nursing home with her loving family by her side.

     Rose was born in Oswego, NY, on May 8, 1925, the daughter of John and Mary (Olejarzyk) Jadus and received her education in Oswego schools.  In 1945, Rose was united in marriage with Michael Lazarek, a loving and devoted union of 19 years until Michael’s death in 1964.  In 1968, Rose married Edward Bergin and the couple shared 40 devoted years of marriage, until Edward’s death in 2008. For many years, Rose was employed with Candella’s Greenhouse in Marcy. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and bingo.  Rose was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in N. Utica.

     Mrs. Bergin is survived by her loving son, Larry Lazarek and Christine Miller of Holland Patent; stepdaughter, Ann Marie Cravis; two cherished granddaughters, Danielle Lazarek Jones and her husband Jason of Utica and Nicole Lazarek and her husband Michael Hutsler of MD; seven adored great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Aiden, Hunter, Gavin, Cohen, Braedan and Juliana; dear friends, Mike Candella and Rita Redner, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael B. Lazarek, dear friend, Florence Candella, seven brothers, six sisters and her feline companion, Oscar.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Rose’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., Utica. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the funeral Mass. She will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
