When I saw Miss Millers photo I was instantly transported back to my 12th year of life and my seat in her 7th grade social studies class. All the people that touched my life from my years at Mount Carmel will remain in my heart forever. We were a family and a family is what we will always be. You rocked Miss Miller and you have definitely left a legacy you can be proud of. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of kids that will never forget you.
I am sure you will now be the choir director up in heaven. Thanks for all the good times during my formative years and for all the great work you did.....even if you did make me run laps around the gym. Confession...I used to sneak out and hide in the bathroom until the last couple laps.

I had the honor of having Gail come to my 60th Birthday party last year. It will be a memory I will never forget. Gail was my teacher at Mt. Carmel and my basketball coach. She was instrumental in my playing Guitar and getting into music. We all enjoyed going to Mass when she played and sang for us in Church. She has the best sense of humor. When she came to training with her dog, she would say Sal, he is incorrigible. To all her family members, God bless you all, and give you peace at this time. Gail from all of your Mt. Carmel students, we love you and you will be missed.

Gail and I have maintained a friendship since our teen years. There are so many memories of our youth in Corn Hill, our many years involved in activities at our home parish of St. Francis de Sales, our attending school together and graduating together, and a multitude of other activities in our lives that brought us together. Needless to say, I am devastated by her loss. We were close friends for so many years. Gail was a good person, a hard worker, a dedicated teacher, and would do anything for anyone in need. She had a great passion for music and singing, remembering our many years as choir members at SFdS. There are no words to express how deeply sorry I am at this point. We have lost someone very special. My sincerest condolences to Diane. May my friend Gail rest in peace.

My heartfelt sympathy to Miss Miller's family and friends. I remember her from when I attended st. Mary of Mount Carmel School then on to Notre Dame. I remember the folk masses and occasions when she would visit at the house and occasionally she would have her guitar.

There are some people in your life that make a lasting impression. My impressions are permanently scared into my back side from the paddle that used to hang on the wall in our 7th grade classroom! The paddle was a gift from a previous class. It read "Miss Miller" and it had holes drilled in it that served two functions. The first was to enhance speed of delivery and the second was two fold, suction and sting. Miss Miller only used it one time on me and I deserved it. Although I denied my crime, I came clean two summers ago when I saw her after many years at my brother Sal's 60th birthday party. Her students affectionately named her "Gail the Whale" because she was a towering specimen of a woman, and "Miller The Killer", because she was a force to be reckoned with. She protected the children of St. Mary Of Mt. Carmel. One afternoon, I remember looking outside the 5th grade window after recess watching a disgruntled student who was swinging a large chain at 3 others. Three of Miss Miller's kids! Out of nowhere she appeared like one of those Marvel Comic hero's, squatting low, watching every revolution, waiting for the perfect time rush. She disarmed and body slammed the kid. The entire class erupted and cheered. She was loved much more than she was feared. She was an excellent teacher. After almost 45 years, I can still remember some of the things she taught me in history class. She was a great basketball player and our 5 & 6th grade coach. I can still picture her doing lay-ups better than anyone. Most of all, she was the schools music teacher. Yes, there were others that would deliver music instruction, but Miss Miller lead the entire school at all our first Friday masses playing her guitar. That's right, one Friday of the month, we had a half day so that the entire school could celebrate the Eucharist. Miss Miller would make her rounds going to each classroom teaching us the songs that we would sing for the mass. There were two parts of the mass that everyone looked forward to. Sing "Amen, Amen" and Gail leading us sing "Our Father, Who Art in Heaven". We loved her. She was awesome. Rest in peace Miss Miller.

It is so sad to learn of Gail's passing---she was such a fine woman. Knowing her goes a long way back to Roosevelt Elementary School to her beautiul concerts at the Maennerchor Club. I will so miss her directing the annual Christmas concert there. My deepest sympathy to her sister Diane, cousin Theresa and all her dear friends.

Dear Gail:
You are always on my mind. We sang together at the Utica Maennerchor for so many years, we worked together at the New York State Saengerbund and , I am certain that nobody has done more to foster German culture, singing, friendship and Gemütlichkeit than you. I would have loved to get you you with a German BundesVerdienstKreuz, it was not feasible, but NOBODY deserved this honor more than you.
I will miss you , thanks for the memories and "Auf Wiedersehen".
