Obituary of Michael J. Conway

      Michael J. Conway, age 83, passed away on October 5, 2023 surrounded by family.

     Michael was born in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Francis Slim” and Dorothy Conway. He was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. Michael married Bonnie Lewis on October 5, 1963 and they had two children, Debbie and Brad.

     Michael retired from the Whitesboro School District where he was a computer specialist. He was previously employed by MDS, Deerfield Systems and Western Electric.

     Michael was a member of the American Legion Post 229 and the Deerfield Fish & Game Club. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

    Michael was known for his sense of humor and storytelling. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed many years camping in the Cooperstown area with family and friends. Michael was an avid motorcyclist and spent much of his free time riding his Harley Davidson.

     Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; a daughter Debbie (Steve) Holman of Kannapolis, North Carolina; a son, Brad Conway of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren, Michael (Halley) Cook, Rachael Cook and Hannah Cook; great-grandchildren Aleah, Lucas and Owen Cook. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Robert) Becker. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Dorothy Conway, grandson, Alex Cook and great-granddaughter, Evy Cook.

     Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica. Per Michaels wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

     As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Michaels memory to the local Wounded Warriors Project or the Anita Stevens Swan Humane Society.
