Obituary of Taisha E. Garrett

Taisha E. Garrett, 30, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, with her loving family by her side.

     Taisha was born in Utica, on September 1, 1993, the daughter of Rebecca Fernalld and Waymon Garrett. She was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Proctor High School and attended MVCC. Taisha recently started working with the Utica City School District. Taisha was an amateur model who did photo shoots for a local boutique and was always up on the latest fashions. She also loved the beach and music, but nothing was more precious to her than her adored son, Cassiel, who was her whole world.

     Taisha is survived by her precious son, Cassiel Martinez; mother, Rebecca Fernalld of Utica; father, Waymon Garrett of Buffalo; three sisters, Tana Phillips of N. Utica and twins, Tariah Garrett and Temiah Garrett both of Utica; her cherished niece, Ivanna and cherished nephews, Antonio and Trevon; maternal grandmother, Eileen Fernalld of New Hartford and a special family friend, Elliott Bell of Fl, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her soul mate and love of her life, Henry Martinez; maternal grandfather, Gordon Fernalld and paternal grandmother Carrie Garrett.

     Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica followed by a service at 8:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation. A private burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
