Obituary of Marion I. Moore

     Mrs. Marion I. Moore, 96, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home.

     Marion was born in Utica, on June 15, 1927, the daughter of Otto and Irene Groat. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 10, 1946, Marion was united in marriage with Francis Dick Moore at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 60 years, until Francis’ death in 2007. Marion enjoyed bowling, golf and antiquing and she was a parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church, Our Lady of The Rosary campus in New Hartford.

     Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Moore of Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Celeste Moore of Clinton and John and Ellen Moore of Sierra Vista, AZ; eight cherished grandchildren, Todd Moore of Utica, Kelly (David) Desantis of Sylvan Beach, Ryan Moore of Liverpool, David (Kelly) Moore of Chandler, AZ, Jody (Shane) Sweeten of Tolleson, AZ, Ben (Crystal) Viglietta of AZ, Matt Viglietta of AZ and Bethany (Caleb) Shivvers and their family of CO; 9 adored great grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Haley, Liana, Jacinda, Brennan, Ben Tyler and Sarah, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Marion’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our lady of The Rosary Campus, 1736 Burrstone Rd., New Hartford. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the funeral Mass. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Francis, in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice in Marion’s memory.

     Marion’s family extends a special thank you to the wonderful people who showed Marion so much love in her final days.
