Obituary of Don J. Wagner

      Mr. Don J. Wagner, 83, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica.

     Don was born in Utica, on July 13, 1940, the son of Alfred and Elizabeth (Jones) Wagner. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Utica College. Don proudly enlisted and served in the US Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965. On September 28, 1968, Don was united in marriage with Elizabeth McNeal at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. At one time, he was employed in the Marketing Department with General Electric Company, and for many years until his retirement, as the Business Officer with Rome DDSO. Don had a keen interest in trees and was a member and past president of the NY State Forest Owners Association. He was also a member of American Legion Utica post 229 in N. Utica.

     Mr. Wagner is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and his niece, Beth Hall of Saranac Lake, NY. He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Parmington.

     Visitation for family and friends is Friday, January 5, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.
