Obituary of Lee Franklin Liggins

Mr. Lee Franklin Liggins, 69, of Utica passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Wynn Hospital, Utica.

     Lee was born in Oxford, Mississippi on August 8, 1954, the son of the late James Avant and Lizzie Liggins.  He was raised between Buffalo and Utica, NY, he was a graduate of UFA. Lee furthered his education at MVCC where he received an associated degree and a certificate in welding.  Lee also proudly enlisted and served in the US Army.  Lee was employed as a machinist and mechanic where he liked working with his hands, lastly working for Orion Bus Industries, Utica.  Lee was an avid fisherman, loved tinkering and his favorite love was cars.

     Mr. Liggins is survived by his children Quaneshe, Lamar (Melissa) Liggins, Lee C. Liggins, Ryan Collins, Lincoln, Latoya Liggins, Danielle Collins, Mildred Hamilton who was like a sister, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  His childhood friends Elliott Bell, Randy Crawford, Cleon Frazier, Marvin Hayes and Kenneth Robinson and a special friend Sheila Morrison.  Lee was predeceased by his parents James and Lizzie, aunts Emma Jones, Mae Woods, Olivia and Mildred Liggins and Uncle Milton Liggins.

     Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 11AM-12NOON at the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica followed by a prayer service at 12NOON at the conclusion of visitation.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica.
