Obituary of Tyreen M. R. Cox

    Tyreen M.R. Cox, 32, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

   Tyreen was born in Utica, on July 23, 1991, the son of Kimberly S. Cox. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Tyreen was employed with Bank of America. He was a basketball enthusiast who enjoyed watching the NBA and his greatest joy was being a father to his precious children who were the light of his life.

     Tyreen is survived by his loving companion, Amber Bennett; three cherished children, Lillyana Cox, Iris Cox and Tyreen Cox, Jr.; his grandmother, Nadine Cox Allen; sister, Naketa Cox; brothers, Lavelle and Shaliek; very close cousins who were more like siblings, Jakeila Smith, best known as Nene and Zhamel best known as Zha; three nephews, Kemon Sims, Jo’siah Thomas and Anthony Thomas, Jr.; niece, Naziah Carter; uncles and aunts, Whitney Fowler, Will “Uncle Beaver” Allen, and Celeste Allen; cousins, Mylah Allen, Quashawn Jackson, Rashaud Jackson, Dashawn “Booboo” Hutchinson, Sanei Fowler; Jamonnica Fowler, Theresa Warren and Akbar and two lifelong friends, Matt Cummings and Collis Maddox as well as numerous additional cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Kimberly.

     Visitation for family and friends is Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.
