Obituary of Frances E. Sterling

Mrs. Frances E. Sterling, 86, of Utica, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Pines at Utica Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Utica, with her loving daughter at her side.

     Frances was born in Union County, South Carolina, on April 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Lee and Jannie (Worthy) Boyd.  At one time Frances was united in marriage to the late James Sterling on July 22, 1956.  Frances was employed by several businesses in Utica GE and Utica Head Start to name a few, but lastly, she worked as a crossing guard for the Utica City Schools, mainly at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.  Frances enjoyed plants, puzzles, fishing, where she loved the outdoors, helping others, but most of all spending time with her precious grandchildren.

     Frances is survived by her loving daughter Tracy Harvey, her adored grandchildren Cheryce Joyner, Michelle, Quinton Harvey, great granddaughters Josephina, Izabella, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Lee and Jannie, her siblings John Boyd, J.W. Boyd, Malcom Boyd, Vernon Boyd,  Thomasena Wilson, Edna Hedgespeth, Ruth Brown, Virginia Barton, Delilia Eggleston .

     Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 1-3PM at the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc, 408 Herkimer Road, N. Utica, followed by a prayer service at 3PM at the conclusion of visitation.
