Obituary of Patricia A. Moorehead

     Mrs. Patricia A. Moorehead, 85, of Whitesboro, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side.

     Patricia was born in Utica, on May 18, 1938, the daughter of Robert M. and Antoinette (Nellenbach) Essel. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy where she was valedictorian of her class. On August 13, 1960, Patricia was united in marriage with William F. Moorehead at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. At one time, Patricia was employed with the Social Security Administration and for many years until her retirement, was the financial director with the Center for Addiction and Recovery in New Hartford. Patricia was an avid bowler and reader, a gifted synchronized swimmer, enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and Connecticut women’s basketball team, and truly loved traveling, especially on Amtrack, with her beloved husband, Bill. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Stanley Theatre for over 20 years, was a member of the Marcy and Deerfield Seniors, a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro and a parishioner of the former St. George’s Church in Utica.

     Mrs. Moorehead is survived by her loving husband, William; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Edward Evans of Utica and Mary and Brian Sabonis of Whitesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Martha Moorehead of Whitesboro and John and Melanie Moorehead of Floyd; five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Cowin, Cynthia Sabonis, Karen Sabonis, Ariana and Derek Hall and Shane Moorehead; two adored great grandchildren, Leah Cowin and Denver Hall; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and William George of Rome, several nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends; Carol Crimmins, Dolores Boehlert and Carol Babowicz. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Barbara Essel.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Patricia’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro. She will be laid to rest in St. George’s Cemetery in Whitesboro.
