Mr. Roy C. Mahardy, 90, of N. Utica, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

     Roy was born in Utica, on August 15, 1933, the son of Edward and Helen (Rielly) Mahardy. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Roy proudly served his country in the US Army. On June 23, 1956, Roy was united in marriage with Barbara G. Bott, a loving and devoted union of nearly 60 years, until Barbara’s death in 2016. For many years, Roy was employed as production manager with Mohawk Containers in New Hartford and later as campus security at Hamilton College in Clinton, until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed trap shooting, gardening and carving duck figurines. He was of the Catholic faith.

     Mr. Mahardy is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Greg Mahardy of N. Utica and Scott Mahardy and his wife Karen (who Roy thought of as his own daughter), of Deerfield; Grampy’s little angels, Megan, Kaitlin and Jessica and five sisters-in-law, Shirley Mahardy, Linda Mosca, Jo-Ann Novak, Jacqie (Tom) Santora and Patricia Bott as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers, Edward, Jack, William, James, Thomas, Lawrence and Robert; two sisters, Marilyn Pardi and Arlene Dunn and two brothers-in-law, Ron Novak and Richard Bott.

     In keeping with Roy’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services. He will be laid to rest with his beloved Barbara in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton in the spring.
