William J. Strassberger Obituary

      Mr. William J. Strassberger, 91, of Lake Worth, FL, formerly of Remsen, NY, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at E.T. York Hospice Center in Gainesville, FL with his son and daughter-in-law by his side.


     William was born on May 8, 1932, the son of William O. and Helen Strassberger. He was raised in Yorkville, received his education in Whitesboro Central Schools and attended the Utica School of Commerce. On June 23, 1956, Bill was united in marriage with Ruth Sweet, a loving and devoted union of 68 years. Bill honorably served for 16 years in the US Naval Reserves.  He was employed with Hurds Shoe Company, the US Postal Service, the Library Burrough and Duofold, Inc. After his retirement in 1985, he spent his remaining years split between Kayuta Lake in Remsen, NY and Lake Worth, FL. He enjoyed salt and freshwater fishing, golfing, taking cruises with Ruth and spending time with his family. He and Ruth also enjoyed many decades of long special friendships with the Bathricks, Caspers and Hoveys


     Mr. Strassberger is survived by his beloved wife Ruth; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dee Strassberger of Keystone Heights, FL; cherished grandchildren, Katie Sue Ezell and her husband Brandon, Holly Bailey and her husband Zack and Will Strassberger all of Jacksonville, FL; two adored great grandchildren, Drew and Hudson Bailey; brother and sister-in-law, Robert P. and Marie Strassberger  of Lake Worth, FL and nieces, Nancy Thompson and Linda Cate both of Florida. He was predeceased by a son Paul Strassberger and daughter, Susan Strassberger.  


     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Rd., Whitesboro.
