Mr. Albert R. Pontero, 92, of Utica, Passed away on Monday,, March 4, 2024 at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

     Albert was born in Mount Pleasant, NY on November 19, 1931, the son of Albert R. Pontero, Sr. and Marjorie Flansburg Pontero. He was raised in New Hartford and was a graduate of New Hartford High School. Albert proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1955, Albert was united in marriage with Barbara Salka at St. John The Evangelist in New Hartford. For many years, until his retirement in 1994, Albert was employed with Utica Corps. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was a member of the American Legion and a parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus in Utica.

     Mr. Pontero is survived by his beloved Wife, Barbara; Son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Maureen Pontero of Utica; daughter, Gale Salka of Clinton and four cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Danielle, Barry and Mark, Jr.

     In keeping with Albert’s wishes, there is no visitation or services. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
