Obituary of Richard Anthony Cardinal

     Mr. Richard Anthony Cardinal, 68, of Bristol, VA, formerly of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2024, at his home in Bristol.

     Richard was born in Utica, on July 27, 1955, the son of Francis, Jr. and Eda (Gillette) Cardinal. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in N. Utica.  At one time, Richard was employed with Sysco Food Distributor and for many years, with US Food Service. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed golf, spending time at the Turning Stone Casino, was a baseball enthusiast, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed a fine cigar.

     Mr. Cardinal is survived by his four beloved children, Jennifer Cardinal of Bristol. TN, Matthew Cardinal of Midland, GA, Kyle Cardinal and his wife Brittney of Camillus, NY and Zachary Cardinal and his wife Eileen of New Hartford; one sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Fred Miller of Fort Mill, SC and one brother and sister-in-law, Francis, III and Connie Cardinal of Rhinebeck, NY as well as 16 cherished grandchildren, 2 adored great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

     Visitation and a celebration of Richard’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024  from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a prayer and time to share stories at the conclusion of visitation.
