Jo and I were “roommates” for a short while at a nursing facility in Waynesboro. We’d talk about New York State, she about Utica abc I about Syracuse. Life certainly wasn’t boring with Jo as a roommate! She loved it when her grandchildren would visit or when her friend from Utica came with some delicious treats from home. She was exceedingly proud of her son. I don’t know what made me think of her today but now I know she is at rest. Sincere condolences to Jo’s family and friends.

I hadn't known Jo all that long, we met at St Mark in 2008. One of the happiest and proudest moments for her was in December 2011 when she received the Immaculata Award for St Mark's from the Diocese of Syracuse and Bishop Cunningham, and her granddaughter was able to share in the occasion. Apologies to Fr Pasik (God rest his soul) and the angle of the picture that puts the Bishop's crosier in front of him (but look who else has a hand on the crosier ;-) ). Just five short months later, I was honored to have you as my sponsor to the Secular Franciscans. Even as your body slowed down, you continued to contribute to St Mark's by helping when we decorated the church, or supervising the Giving Tree at Christmas. We also had many adventures: to the Franciscan Place at DestiNY, to the Shrine of the North American Martyrs at Auriesville, and to Mercer's Dairy in Boonville for ice cream, just to name a few. Even after your move to Virginia, we had a couple chances to catch up on Franciscan things in person. Sister Death came to bring you over to reunite with family, friends, and ALL those priests you knew. Enjoy your rest, you deserve it, but don't forget to pray for all of us you left behind, may your soul Rest in Peace. To John and the rest of the family, my sincerest condolences on your loss here on earth, but know she's still watching over you and will live on in your memories.
