Obituary of Normajean Ruskey

     Miss Normajean Ruskey, 64, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3, 2024.

     Norma was born in Utica, on July 23, 1959, the daughter of T. Raymond and Jennie (Geiskopf) Ruskey. She was raised and educated in Whitesboro, was a graduate of Whitesboro High School, Herkimer County Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College. For 17 years, Norma was employed with Whitesboro High School, retiring in 2023 as Assistant to the Athletic Director. Norma enjoyed long Sunday drives, beaches, light houses and watching the firematics at the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department. She was a huge supporter of the unified bowling team at Whitesboro High School, rarely missed a sporting event at Whitesboro High School and was a true animal lover, especially her beloved canine companion, Buddy. She was of the Catholic faith.

     Norma is survived by her loving sister, Kristine Ruskey of N. Utica; two cherished nieces, Mikayla Ruskey and her wife Danielle Saunders of Utica and Megan Ruskey of N. Utica; great nephew, Kevin True, II; Godmother, Arlene Winslow and her husband, Mike of Deerfield and dear friends, Mike and Donna Deuel and Darlene Hill as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, T. Raymond and Jennie.

     Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a service at 3:00 pm at the conclusion of visitation. She will be laid to rest with her parents in St. Peter’s Cemetery in N. Utica.
