Obituary of John M. Bick

      Mr. John M. Bick, 56, of Utica., passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 3, 2024. 

    

     John was born in Utica, on July 31, 1967. The son of Henry A. “Hank” and Phyllis Ann (Lamanque) Bick. He was raised and educated in Utica, a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Mohawk Valley Community College. For a number of years John was employed at Bick and Heintz Inc. in Utica and more recently as a self-employed contractor in the Utica area. John was a hockey player. Having played youth hockey in New Hartford, college hockey at MVCC, and beer league hockey, as an adult, winning a championship this spring with his Irish Icing team. John was a kind and generous person to all who knew him. John was a parishioner of St. Joesph and St. Patrick Church in Utica. 

    

     John is survived by five brothers, a sister, and a close cousin: Henry J. and Michelle Bick of Marcy NY, Steven M. Bick and Jennifer Hartsig of Thendara NY, Susan E. and Michael Andrews of Guilderland NY, Joseph A. and Jennifer Bick of Clay NY, Michael A. and Nikki Bick of Frankfort NY, William R. And Kimi Bick of Ava NY, and Patrick and Cynthia Bick of Utica NY. Eleven cherished nieces and nephews. Kelly Bick-Tabor and Dave Tabor, Henry A. and Alexandria Bick, Konner Bick, Emma Bick, Ian Bick, Fern Bick, Colin Bick, Mya Bick, Darby Bick, Corinne Bick, and Evan Nahor as well as several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Phyllis. Some of John’s happiest times were spent with his Lamanque cousins, especially Karen and Trista. 

    

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to John’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Visitation for family and friends is Monday, June 10th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Those wishing to donate in John’s memory, please consider Feed Our Vets, 502 Broad St., Utica, NY 13501 or Catholic Charities, Oneida Madison County, 1408 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
