Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" A. Cummings

     Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” A. Cummings, 89, a resident of the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany, formerly of Marcy, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Eastern Star Home, with her loving family by her side.

    Elizabeth was born in Utica, on November 26, 1934, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Jagodzinski) Kobosinski. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On July 24, 1954, Betty was united in Marriage with Harry C. Cummings at Holy Trinity Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of almost 70 years, until Harry’s recent passing on July 11^th. Betty was a devout parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, enjoyed attending coffee hour at church and was an active volunteer with the church’s annual bazaar. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening.

         Mrs Cummings is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bruce Koppe of Caledonia, NY and Deborah and Robert Weigand of N. Utica; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheryl Cummings of Marcy as well as 10 cherished grandchildren, 11 adored great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Miazga, Harriet Capalupo and Sister Mary Theresa, Daughter of Charity and three brothers, Anthony, Zigmunt and Stanley Kobosinski.

    Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Betty’s memorial Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church, John St., Utica.

     Mrs. Cummings' family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and aides on the 5^th floor at Wynn Hospital for the wonderful care you provided to Betty. A special thank you to the staff on the McDonald Unit at the Eastern Star Home and more recently the Williams Unit for the love and compassionate care you provided to Betty. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
